Abstract
Reexpansion pulmonary edema is a rare complication of the treatment of chronic lung collapse secondary to pneumothorax, pleural effusion, or atelectasis. Although an usual benign nature, sometimes it may have a fatal outcome requiring immediate
and
aggressive management.
We experienced a case of 3 year-old boy who developed acute reexpansion pulmonary edema following removal of left bronchial foreign body, gum, which aspirated several days ago. With immediate and careful respiratory and supportive management the
improved markedly.
